My Moon Story

Yesterday for one of my Chinese language week tasks I had to write a story about the moon. We could use the mid-autumn festival legend or Rona and the Moon for inspiration. Here is my moon story!

Once upon a time there was a girl named John. John was a rude little girl and always

kicked trees but one day she pushed it too far. It was a regular day when john was

walking to school in the night with her friend grout. They were going to vandalize their classroom room 6. When they got there they got out their spray paint and started writing bad words but unfortunately for them the board of trustees had

just finished a meeting. One of their members Scott was going home when he witnessed

the scene he held their hands behind their backs and walked down to the office. On the

way there John kicked a tree so hard it fell over! The moon saw this and picked up john

who was never seen again!

My Grannie's And Cousin's Birthday!

Yesterday was my Grannie's and cousin's birthday! Grannie turned 90 and Tyler turned one. At 4:00 we did a zoom meeting with Grannie and the rest of her family. Some of it was boring but most of it was exciting. At 5:30 Tyler had his zoom birthday! My Aunty and Uncle put a healthy birthday cake in front of him and he smashed it but it didn't last long because about 10 minutes later he had to have a bath. While he was eating his cake I ate a doughnut to feel like I was there eating cake with him. I am sad that I didn't get to celebrate my cousin's and Grannie's birthday in real life.

My Chinese Language Week Quiz!

Here is my Chinese language week quiz. Hopefully you learn something new.

Making Money Bags/Dumplings!

Yesterday for one of my Chinese new year tasks I had to make dumplings. We didn't have any dumpling cases so we used spring role cases instead. After putting the filling in and folding them up my mum started frying them. About 15 minutes later the dumpling were ready and we all had one. They were delicious! We called them money bags because they looked like them!

Here is a picture of the dumplings/money bags!

What I Have Learnt During Lockdown!

In lockdown me and my sister learnt how to play socially distanced games with our next door neighbour. For example we tell each other to do an exercise like 60 star jumps or a 25 second plank. I also learnt how (or got tall enough) to do a slam dunk in my basketball hoop. Finally I learnt a whole lot of stuff about rugby by watching the rugby championship. I now know which rugby team is the best in the world and when South Africa lost three games straight - and much more!

Going To Krispy Cream

On Saturday me, my dad and my sister went to krispy cream to get some doughnuts. When we got there the queue was almost on the road. After about 45 minutes of waiting we got to front of the queue. I ordered a small cookies and cream shake and some cookies and cream doughnuts. My sister ordered the same thing as me. We decided to do a contactless drop off of some doughnuts to my grandparents. It was nice to have a socially distanced chat with them because I miss them.

Afghans!

Yesterday me and my Mum made afghan biscuits! First we got all the ingredients out. Next we mixed them together. After that me and my sister made them into balls and planted them on the baking tray. Finally my mum chucked them in the oven and we waited for them to cook. When they were ready me and my sister ate one and they were delicious!

Here is a picture of the biscuits!

Monster Comic!

Yesterday for one of my challenges I had to make a monster and include it in a comic. My first attempt wasn't successful but my second one was! It took me about half an hour to finish my comic which is written in first person (from the monster's point of view).

Egg Challenge!

For my challenge yesterday I had to drop an egg from a height of 3m without cracking it. I wasn’t successful but here are my instructions so you can have a try.

  1. Got two little card cupcake cases.

  2. Put toilet paper in them followed by the egg.

  3. Wrapped it with toilet paper.

  4. Wrapped it with tissue paper.

  5. Sellotaped 4 straws to the bottom of the egg case, two on each side.

  6. Stuck a piece of cardboard to the bottom of the straws. This was a landing platform.

  7. Drop from a height of 3m.

Here are some photos of it!

Making A Book Mark

Last week for one of my Maori language week tasks we had to make a book mark. Here are the steps to make it.

  1. Get some red, white and black paper.
  2. Cut them into equal size strips (ideally not too thick)
  3. Start weaving them if you know how. If you don't, look for a video.
  4. Cut off any paper hanging over the edges of your bookmark.
  5. Cover it in sellotape
    for some extra strength.
That is how you make a book mark!

Making A Board Game!

Last week for one of my art tasks we had to make a board game. It could be any board game, but it must be creative.
I made a board game that was a bit of 10 other board games including monopoly and snakes and ladders. It took me about 30 minutes to make before me, my Mum and my sister played it. After about 45 minutes of playing we realized it was much too hard to finish so I made a few edits (added Q cards with special instructions) and then we were able to finish it.

Here is a picture of the board game!

What I will do tonight!

Tonight me and my family are going to watch a movie! We are going to eat our dinner in front of it - pretend K.F.C. My mum said we should watch Mrs Doubtfire but I am not too sure about that (please leave your suggestions in the comments). We are also going to have a boysenberry pudding for dessert but I have never had boysenberries before so I'll see how it tastes. I think my Mum will some how persuade me to watch Mrs Doubtfire but we will see. I can't wait for tonight!

Making A Poi

In this blog post I am going to tell you how to make a poi.

  1. Braid three ribbons together. Make sure there is some ribbon left at the end so you can tie it around the poi stuffing.
  2. Get a plate, lay it on some fabric and cut around the outside of it.
  3. Get some stuffing (we used an old pillow) and place it in the middle of the fabric circle.
  4. Tie the end of the braided ribbon around the stuffing.
  5. Wrap the fabric around the stuffing then get some string. Tie it around the fabric to make sure the stuffing stays in the poi.
Here is my poi!

Maori Language Week Day Two!

Yesterday for my Maori language task I had to say our P
epeha. Again I thought it was going to be easy but it wasn't. This Pepeha was much longer than the other one. I don't think it completely how it should sound but I tried my best.

Here it is!

Here is the Pepeha I had to say!

My Maori Language Task!

Yesterday for my reading task I had to take a video of myself saying this Maori verse. I thought it was going to be easy but it took me a long time to get it right. Watch it below!

Here is what I had to say:

My Mum And Dad Get Vaccinated!

On Friday my Mum and Dad got their Covid-19 vaccinations. My Dad hadn't got a vaccination since 1998 so he was quite scared. When we got there there was a reasonably small queue so it only took us about 20 minutes to get to the front. My Mum got her vaccination first. She went in with my sister then I went in with my Dad. Surprisingly he didn't do anything, he just sat there. After our fifteen minute wait to see if my parents' had a reaction we went home.

Tongan Language Week!

This week is Tongan language week! For my writing I had to do a report on it. It had to include lots of facts and sometimes it was hard to find information. I got a few ideas off my classmates when they shared their screen in the goggle meet but mostly off the slides that my teacher gave me. The fact that surprised me the most is that Tonga has around 180 islands. Please tell me what fact you found the most interesting in the comments.

Here is the link for my report.

My Cat's Birthday!

Today is my cat's birthday. She is turning 13! We are going to celebrate by giving her lots of cat treats and a little hut my sister and me made out of cardboard. It has a play area, a blanket area and a shady area in case it is hot. We played with some ping pong balls in the morning. We rolled them and she chased them. In human years, according to a study, she is now 68 years old! Her name is Lolly and she mainly likes to sleep, eat and sometimes play depending on how she is feeling. Right now she is sleeping on my parents' bed. I hope she has a great day!

Here is the cat hut we made.

If My Toys Came Alive!

This week for my writing task I had to write a story about my toys if they came alive. It was very hard to imagine what they would do but some toys were easier to guess than others. It's a bit short but I hope you like it!

If My Toys Came Alive

If my toys were alive they would probably have a war, especially my army men! I assume that some of them would go for a vacation to Fiji or go to live in the woods. I think that my dad might be sad if my toys went away because some of them were from his childhood. My dominos would be scared because they have been forgotten about. My teddy bear, pink ted, would probably just stay where he was and occasionally walk around. I’m not sure what my Lego would do because they have no legs and nowhere to be. Maybe they would make a tower for me? That would be very helpful because it would take a long time for me to do it. In conclusion I am not 100% sure what my toys would do, but I bet they do!

Here is my teddy bear pink ted.

My Weekend!

On Saturday I went for a long walk to Terry Street Park but before we got there we stopped at the dairy. I got a chocolate trumpet. When we got there me, my dad and my sister played soccer. After about 30-45 minutes of soccer we decided to go for a bush walk.

On Sunday it was Father's Day! I gave my dad a card and some chocolates. Mum cooked us all some we french toast with bacon and maple syrup. Later in the afternoon we went for a bike ride to Point Chevalier beach. My sister and I made a bridge over a big puddle with fallen down branches. When we arrived home we had snacks on the deck. I tried gherkins for the first time. They were disgusting!

Rats!

Yesterday my Aunty sent a picture to my mum and the picture was of 10 baby rats! Apparently they went to their compost and in it were the baby rats. They bought them up to their deck to see what they were and their neighbors cat came to watch them. Also yesterday I finished my bug hotel! (Go to an earlier post to see what it is). I had to go for a walk in the woods to collect more sticks because we didn't have enough. To keep all the sticks in, we put some tacks on the frame and then zigzagged string around them.

Here is my bug hotel and the baby rats!

What I Want To Do After Lockdown!

The things I want to do after lockdown are...

  1.  See my family and friends because I havn't seen them for a long time.
  2.  Go to somewhere we can have fun, like the Zoo or Motat.
  3.  Go to school maybe, depending on how I am feeling.
  4.  Do a long bike ride to a place I have never been.
  5.  Celebrate my friend's and family's birthday if they had on in lockdown.
  6.  Buy a new pair of slippers (because my ones are way too big.)
  7.  Go on holiday to somewhere other than Auckland.
